2006 NAMM SUMMER SESSION TRADE SHOW OPENS
IN AUSTIN
Music Products Industry Association Gathers
in the 'Live Music Capital of the World'
for Business, Networking, Education and
Entertainment
AUSTIN, Texas, July 14, 2006—NAMM, the
International Music Products Association, opened its 2006 Summer Session
trade show today, which runs through Sunday, July 16, at the Austin
Convention Center.
Approximately 20,000 music products
industry professionals from 60 countries are expected to attend Summer
Session to view the latest musical instruments and products from more than
500 exhibiting companies.
In addition to the many exhibits, there are
a variety of activities scheduled, including "An Evening with Jimmie
Vaughan & Special Guests," presented by Fender and NAMM, which is
free to all Summer Session attendees.
NAMM President and CEO Joe Lamond and a
panel of industry leaders will present the second annual "State of the
Industry Address," covering the current business climate and what's next
in the music products industry.
Throughout the show, NAMM University is
offering more than 40 free educational sessions. Scheduled topics include
generating word-of-mouth marketing, buying and sharing groups for independent
dealers, music lesson programs and market-building opportunities targeted to
various population segments. The educational sessions will come to a close
with four open roundtable discussions on Sunday afternoon.
"Summer Session is an ideal
opportunity to come together as an industry and learn how to adapt to the
changing retail model," said Lamond. "At this year's show, we've
opened up the floor to get the NAMM Members communicating about changes in
how business is done, opportunities presented by these changes and ways we
can work together to benefit the entire industry."
The 2007 NAMM Show will take place January
18–21, 2007, in Anaheim, Calif.
